The Finnish Red Cross Hunger Day Collection

Together we can deliver aid where it is the most needed

In Hunger Day we collect funds for the Disaster Relief Fund. With the collected funds the victims of natural disasters and conflicts get food, clean water and medicine. In Finland the donations you will collect will be helping for example the people who have lost their home in a fire.

How did the Hunger Day collection start?

Hunger Day was born when the volunteer Mailis Korhonen from Pälkäne had an idea for the ”fundraising campaign for everyone in Pälkäne" in 1980. The event quickly spread throughout the country and is currently organized in nearly every Finnish municipality in September and October each year.
